i took this picture with my pocket camera, when i came from Jailolo to meet some of entomologist local, i went to jailolo to see mr Jafar, i've visited d'hook hotel and some interfeting place, like subaim and some nice spot to see paradise bird in kali batuputih sidangoli, sp6 dodaga before the trecking to see togutil, than i've been in Morotai island to visit kakara and some nice spot to snorkel and butterfly spot.

Palace and Museum of Sultan Ternate

Build in 1813 by the 40th sultan ternate, Muhammad Ali, this tour site is located in soa sio district North Ternate City District. The architectural have the shape of sitting lion with two forelegs supporting its head. Right now, the main room is functioned as a meseum with cultural item and historical arttifacts that show the glory if ancient Sultan Ternate, such as a Crown, Writing hand Al-qur’an, Twins coconut ( by Sangir King) and war equipments. A Crown which enriched by kind of precious stone and also with a growing hair, the hair is annually cut-out on Eid Mubarak on a special ceremony. This crown is located inside Sultan Ternate Palace.

Baramasuwen (Mad Bamboo)

Is a tradional game in Ternate which requires apporoximately 7 People using bamboo, frankincense. Long time ago, this mad bamboo game which also called baramasuwen was used to mave heavy equipment facilitate human work. This game also reflecting the mutual assistace of ternate people.

Salai Jin

Salai Jin is a Ternate word for dance for Jin ( ethereal entity). This dance is part of series of ritual every Soa for Marga which exist in Moloku Kie Raha. They are called Arwaha Baba se Ete. It is also about giving offerings to the ancient sprits and manifests it in the form of dance. It can enrich the culture of Moloku Kie Raha generally and Ternate specifically.

Gamlamo fortress ( Santo Paolo, Nostra Senora De Rosario)

This fortress built in 30 June 1522 is the first fortress built by Portuguese since the arrival in Ternate in 1515 by Governor Antonio De Brito and than continued in 1525 the second Governor Garcia Henriques, and the last by Governor 8th in this fortrees sultan Khairun was ambused and killed by Portuguese in 1570.

Tolucco Fortreess (Santa Lucas)

Tolucco Fotreess ( Santa Lucas ) was a portuguese inheritance which build 1540 by General Fransico Serral, and than restored by Dutch Governor General Jan Pieter Both 1610. the building Architectural like a man’s genitalia, it’s located in sangadji sub-district 20 Kms from city centre of ternate.

Oranje Fortress

This fortress was built in 1607 by Dutch Matelief De Jonge, the name of this fortrees gave by Franscois Wttert in 1609, being a VOC Center of Governace under General Jan Pieter Both (1612-1615) , Herald reyist (1615-1616) , Laurens Real ( 1616-1619) and Jan pieter zoon coen( 1619), and in this fort there was a floating well, It is now become a police dormitory. Even so, visitors are still allowed to enjoy the greatness of Orange Fortress. In January 8,1858 Alfred Russel Wallace arrive in ternate, in Santiong Sub-district it’s about 100 meter from his resident to orange fortress. He was a English man researcher which was research in Ternate a long three years, his founds were kinds of birds such as : 1. Semioptera Wallace kinds bird, these birds was new kind Cendrawasi . by citizen ( Jailolo, Bacan ) called angel bird 2. Cuscus Ornatus by ternate citizen called blue eyes kuso, which was only found in Ternate.

Kalamata Fortress ( Santa Lucia)

In the beginning, this fortress built by Ducth in 1609 to conforting spanish attack from rum Tidore. The name “Kalamata” was taken from the name of Ternate Prince that dead in Makassar 1676. this fortress located at Kalumata sub-district South Ternate City.

The Tomb of Sultan Baabullah

He is the son of Sultan Khairun who is succeed to send a way Portuguese to surrender without any reservation and than left ternate in 1575. this tomb is located on Foramadiahi Hill, 10 Kms southward from centre of ternate city.

The Tomb of Sultan Badaruddin II

This tomb located in Moslem cemetery in west Makassar sub-district Sultan Badaruddin II was a Palembang Sultan which was exiled to Ternate in 1822 by the Ducth Government. Sultan ternate than gave Sultan Badaruddin II and his family a special settlement which called Palembang Village ( Now is located near Bank Mandiri of Ternate ). Sultan Badaruddin II dead in 1852 and buried next to his wife’s tomb in his teacher, Al-hahib Umar bin Muhammad Assagaf.

Sultan Ternate Grand Mosque

Sultan Ternate Grand Mosque was build in 1606 during the reign of Sultan Ternate the 28 th Saidi Barakati . After there governance, it finally finished in 1648 during the governance of Sultan Hamzah. The composition of material comprises stone structure while for gluing them together, a mixture of kalumpang tree skin was used. The steructure is square shaped, while the roof adopts the piled pyramids and each level is filled with 360 carved trellis according to the number of days in one year.

St. Willibrordus Church

Portuguese arrival in Ternate at 1515 became the early beginning of St willibrordus church, which also knows as Batu Church. At that time, religious activity held inside the fortresses. This situation lead Captain Antonio Galvao to build chapel, church and schools in 1523. The arrival of father Fransiscus Xaverius then become the history milestone of Catholic apread in Ternate. Even though the church was developing, there we re hard times for Catholic Church. It got shut and religious activity was prohibited. In 1606, along with the attendance of Jesuit Fathers, the restoration of St. willibrordus church

Klenteng Thian Hou King

A long time ago, a Tiongkok merchant ship sailed brought a piece of board that called Sen Mun Yan ( Sea Goddness). For Tionghoa people, this board believed as symbol of a sanctuary. On the way, ship was struck by wave and punched wind. Those merchants then prayed and requested to be saved so they can safe the board and build a klenteng.Then, the ship finally cast ashore at Tidore. Unfortunately, at that time there was no Tionghoa people in Tidore. The board then moved to Ternate and a Klenteng was built in Ternate.

Afo Clove

Afo clove is oldest clove in the world. Is located on the foothill of Gamalama mountain, Sub-district Marikurubu. This clove tree is about 398 years of age height 36.60 meters, diameter 198 meters and about 4.26 cycle.Afo clove resulted about 400 kg cloves every year.

Tobololo-Tabanga Beach

Tobololo-Tabanga Beach is the only white-sand beach in Ternate island. Spread almost 2 km between Tobololo dan Tabaga, this beach is located 12,5 km from sub-district in Ternate. Splash of waves in shore side, cluster of sago palm trees and coconut trees flapping by the wind become a panting of panoramic beauty.

Sulamadaha Beach

The location which is only 14 kms from the centre of Ternate City makes this beach easily to reach by public transportations. Sulamadaha beach offers a beautiful natural scenery. The sand mat, wave, the blue ocean and scenery of Hiri island which sorrounds by rock hills and trees really refresh your mind. And you can do snorkling and diving (hole).

Big Tolire Lake

This natural lake located around 18 kms from the centre of Ternate City, Takome sub-district, Ternate island district. With its tranguil water surrounded by abundant green trees, this lake showed the beauty of Inonesian nature. According to the lengend, Big Tolire lake was created by tragedy. In civil party, a drunken father did an immoral deed to his own daughter. As a result of the angry nature , a landslide fall down upon him and caused the Big Tolire Lake. Meanwhile, the daughter ran away and drowed herself in small Tolire Lake.

Kastela Beach

Located near Gamlamo fort and monument of Sultan Khairun, this beach blend both natural and historical tour site. Here, visitor could enjoy the beautiful seaside scenery and the amazing sunset under the cool shades of trees.

Laguna Lake

It’s located in Fitu sub-district, kota ternate selatan district. It has tranquit water, and is surrounded by green hill and mountain. Infinite ocean is in front of it. It offers scenery beauty, created by Almighty God, and people should be thankful for it. At the moment, there is fish cultivation near the lake and it will be made for fishing recreation site.

Burn Stones/ Batu Angus

This site is land which is covered by solid black rocks from molten lava of Gamalama Mountain that erupted in 1673. Located exactly under the foot hiil of mountain. Gamalama, unification of black rocks with the lush green trees and the vast blue ocean created a unique and bewitching scenery. Burn stones also a monument and Japanese soldier graves tha died in a battle against the ally soldiers in world War II.
