14 DAYS / 13 NIGHTS

KOROWAI CANNIBALS  - BALIEM VALLEY TREKKING

DAY 01 : JAYAPURA ARRIVAL WAMENA (O).

Arrive at Sentani airport of Jayapura, meet by tour guide, then catch Trigana flight to Wamena at 10.00am, 12.00. Upon arrival at Wamena airport , transfer to Baliem Pilamo hotel for a short briefing by guide about the tour and trekking. After lunch, touring around Wamena town and traditional market and villages surrounding. Afternoon back to hotel for dinner and stay overnight. (baggage allowance for this flight is 15kg per person)

DAY 02 : WAMENA – DEKAI by Flight (B.L.D)

transfer to the Airport for catching regular flight to Dekai. Depend on weather, the plane may be delay cause bad weather. Make more preparation in Dekai for the next day by  charter motorized canoe. Rest of the day you may walk around Dekai villages  to explore Dekai Tribe. Lunch and dinner will be provided by our cook. These flight very often delayed or canceled due to bad weather. If canceled you shall be transfer to hotel and overnight stay

Day 03:  DEKAI – Brazza River – MABUL/BAYGON (B,L,D)

Transfer by Jeep to Lokpon and today travel by motorized canoe through Brazza River for approx 6-8hours.  From Brazza river up to Kolf River on destination to Mabul or baygon. Depends with rivers high condition, sometime the water river down to 1 meter (low tide), the boat have to be slower. Arrive at afternoon or at night.  Dinner and overnight in the village of Mabul or upper of Mabul (Baygon)

Day 04,05,06,07: KOROWAY ADVENTURE  (B,L,D).

We will spend these 04days adventure is some of the most pristine lowland rain forest in the world. Along the way we will try and stay with the various tribes those inhabit the region.

Start our adventure by walking through the dense jungle, swampy, and we sometime walking up the single log. Our porter will free their hand to help you in the hard or difficult trail. After 4-6 hours walking we arrive the first Koroway camp (where some Koroway tribes life). The Koroway tribes live in the jungle only with their family or relatives, as they never stay in one big compound. We can found 3 or 4 Tree houses in one camp only. Caused they are nomad peoples and they never life for such a long time in the one places, they have to moved to one and another places to get more food and animals to be hunt. Stay and overnight at tents. While the Canoe with their crews waiting us in this village while we doing adventure till we return.

Day 08: JUNGLE  – MABUL/BAYGON (B,L,D)

The Last day trek we will be arrive in Mabul. We will consider where we would sleep in the jungle near Mabul or at village itself. Lunch en route, dinner and overnight at tents.

Day 09:  MABUL – DEKAI (B,L,D)

Boat is waiting us in Mabul for a few days and drop us back for 6-8 hours from Mabul to Dekai Lunch en route, dinner and  overnight at Simple Hotel in Dekai or at tents.

DAY 10: DEKAI – WAMENA (B,L)

By regular flight to Wamena. Arrive in Wamena airport transfer by car directly to the Hotel. Lunch, overnight at Hotel.

Day 11:  WAMENA – IBIROMA - KILISE  (B,L,D)

By Car drop us to Yetni rivery, we hike up and down, the trail is steep and could be very sleeper if it is in rainy season. Small trek hrough the steep sweet potato garden near the Baliem river.  From the Baliem river the trail is going up and take 3-4 hours to arrive in the village of Ibiroma. Or continue walking to Kilise village (we recommended). Our accommodation is at a local  house.

Day 12:  KILISE - SYOKOSIMO   (B,L,D)

Walk and crossing the  suspension bridge on Baliem River  then hike up to 4-5 hours through the beautiful country side and Dani villages to Hitugi village. You will encounter and greeted by the Dani people who work in their steep sweet potato garden, arrive in Hitugi in the afternoon, lunch en route. If time still permitted then you can continue walking  from Hitugi village, we hike 1,5 hours down to Mugi river and cross the small traditional rope bridge near a small water fall. From the waterfall we still hike 30 minutes and will arrive in the village of Syokosimo, accommodation at the teacher's guest house.(Walk approx. 6-7hours)

Day 13: SYOKOSIMO – NAIN – KURIMA – WAMENA  (B,L)

Today, we hike down and  the trail is steep and could be very sleeper if it is in rainy season. then continue the last trekking day back to Kurima with regular path of local people, and cross suspension hanging bridge over Baliem river. We walk at Baliem river bank until Kurima. You may stop at river for re-freshing of your body and take some breaks. Picnic lunch have provided, and late afternoon arrive in Kurima and Yetni then catch the car for drive back to Wamena town in 40 minutes.  Dinner and overnight stay at Baliem pilamo hotel  (Walk approx. 5-6 hours)

Day 14: WAMENA - JAYAPURA – DEPARTURE (B)

Breakfast at hotel, transfer to the airport for your flight by Trigana ETD 07:00 leaving for Jayapura. Upon your arrival at Sentani airport of Jayapura, onward flight for the next destinations.

End Of service.
